Telo Tulku Rinpoche was a gracious host for His Holiness during the visit, and expressed a very warm and touching welcome for the Dalai Lama upon his arrival. Buyuncha Nikolayevich Galzanov, the Press Secretary to the President of Kalmykia was very helpful and supportive of the press, as were the folks in the Press office at Chess City, Vika and others.   The President of Kalmykia, Karsan Nikolayevich Ilimzhinov was not in Kalmykia at the time of the visit.	Russia Republic of Kalmykia His Holiness, the Dalai Lama, visited the Buddhist republic of Kalmykia for 3 days Nov 29, 30 and Dec 01 of 2004. All Planet Network had a team there about 14 hours before His Holiness arrived, and were on hand for his small press conference upon arrival, as well as events over the next days,  His message was one of peace, of a 5 point plan for happiness,  and that people should be serious, no matter which religion they follow, about their religion, and living a good life.
The next morning, we traveled with a small press corps to Hyrul, about 6 Km outside of Elista, the Capitol of Kalmykia. This site is home to a beautiful Buddhist Temple, and is where he addressed thousands of Kalmuks, Tuvans, Buryats and other Buddhist followers who had journeyed to the site to see and hear His Holiness.

His Holiness addresses the crowd, as a snow storm settles in. Silence among the multitudes,  and snow, and thousands of faces, smiling, crying and  listening to every word, as he speaks for several hours.	One of the camera positions chose to film from the crowds 'Point of Vidw' about 50 people back from the staged area. With the tall tripos,  it made for great shots from this position, of reaction shots of the crowd,  as well as the Dalai Lama when he was speaking.  He addressed the crown in Tibetian, which was translated  during pauses into Russiam.
Following an interview with Shiwalha Ladang Drepung Gomand (seated Left) ,  Director of Samlo Khangtsen Lama Monastary in Kamataka State, India. This is the Monastary where many Kalmuk, Tuvan and Buryat students go to become monks.  Vladimir Dulov took the shot with Evgenia,  Vladimir and Gabreal in the background.	Following the interview with Geshe Dugda Rinpoche (right) and Tsering Dhondup,  notes are compared about the Kalmuk people, and their long time involvement in  Tibetian Buddhism.
