| IVO MEDEK was
born December 26 1936 in Domazlice, Czech Republic. At the present time,
he lives and works in Predni Kopanina. He is very prolific, and creates
a good number of imaginitive paintings/collages every year. From
1967 to 1974 Medek was a member of the famous Prague Surrealist Group.
Then, in the 1980's, he began to cooperate with and support the French
"Banalistes" - a group of well-known artists who inclined away from Surrealism
and put their emphasis on the beauty of completely everyday, simple things.
He has won awards and acclaim for his art, and also for his work in animated films [Film Festival, Moscow, Film Festival Sofie. He has also won the European Medal Frank Kafka. |
