The Forbes editor in Russia, Paul Klebnikov,
41, was shot dead Friday night
by unknown attackers, the Washington Post reports.
Klebnikov, a U.S. citizen and senior editor for
Forbes who investigated corruption
in Russia, was shot four times outside his office
and died in an ambulance en route
to a hospital. He had worked for Forbes since
1989, and was the author of
Godfather of the Kremlin, a biography of Russian
tycoon Boris Berezovsky.
Other journalists have also been attacked in Russia,
the Post said.
The Moscow correspondent for the Afghan service
Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty was stabbed outside
apartment last week.
A colleague from the Turkmen service
was attacked and beaten at home in April.
Klebnikov's wife and children had stayed behind
New York when he moved to Moscow, the Post said.
